Course Objective

The aim of the course is to introduce students to effective verbal and nonverbal communication strategies in English and to help them develop effective writing, reading, speaking and listening skills.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to get the gist of the lecture and mastering the structure of English
2   Ability to understand the basic points of the text by gaining reading comprehension skills
3   Ability to write (e.g. a paragraph) consistently and fluently
4   Ability to listen and carry on a conversation, discussion or debate on different subjects
5   Ability to know the basic technical terminology and engineering standards required by the engineering field
