Course Objective

To be able to analyze essential theoretical base of the economic integrations such as customs union, free trade area and monetary union.
To be able to define the workings of the EMU in specific (not only in theory but also in practice) and also gains and loses.
To be able to interpret the principles of a single market, and static and dynamic effects of economic integrations (also with in the context of Türkiye and the EU relations).
To be able to research current issues and trends using variety of sources and data.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to explain basic concepts of economic integration
2   To be able to explain the economic effects of the Customs Union
3   To be able to evaluating the economic efffects of the Customs Union on the Turkish economy
4   To be able to evaluating asic knowledge for the other economic integrations in the world.
5   To be able to evaluate the relations with existing monetary unions and their effects on Turkish economy
6   To be able to analyze the Türkiye-EU relations and negotiation process from an historical perspective

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course consists of lecturing, role plays, class discussions, weekly homeworks, and academic essay / project (written). In this context, the students will develop effective processes to manage a project and work within a team to assess an issue or process.
