Course Objective

This course aims to prepare students for success in real-world marketing management roles by enhancing their ability to structure the core issues and develop corresponding solutions through a set of dedicated cases, tools, and simulation. This course is designed to enable learners to apply the principles of marketing and marketing strategies in a real and/or virtual business context. Learners will be equipped with the skills they need in order to develop and evaluate a marketing strategy through analyzing the information provided on the market and the competition.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to conduct critical thinking in a dynamic, unpredictable, and complicated environment by developing an understanding of complex marketing decisions.
2   Evaluate marketing data and information and use it to guide their strategic decision making and creative thinking.
3   Discuss, plan, and execute complicated marketing strategies successfully as a member of a marketing team.
4   Enhance their communication skills through presentations.

Assessment Criteria

1. Term Project (Simulation Results): Learners in groups are expected to play the Cesim Marketing Simulation individually and submit their weekly marketing group decisions (decisions should be made with the group consensus) in the simulation platform. Team performance will be measured with the decision results of: Market Share (25%), EBITTA(25%), Share Price(25%), and Total Sales(25%). Grading will be done in accordance with the Simulation Results Rubric.

Market Share /EBITTA/Share Price/Total Sales is the fourth and fifth highest among rivals Fair(75%)

Market Share/EBITTA/Share Price/Total Sales is the second highest among rivals- Very good (90%)

2. Presentation: Groups will review their round decisions on a weekly basis. Each week after each round they are expected to present the reasons behind their decisions in the related round. Compare their decisions and the results with the other groups result. What are the areas of improvement and why which decision points should be modified Identify the improvement areas and the adaptations in their marketing strategies. Presentations will be graded based on Presentation Rubric.(%30)

Participation (Peer Evaluation): Each group member is obliged to play the simulation game and participate actively in the group decisions. In order to measure the individual performance, Students have to do peer evaluation for each member of their groups through the simulation platform. The results of the peer evaluations will form the basis of the students participation grade. Students evaluate their team members performance each week. Students will allocate 100 points to team members based on their weekly performance. Group members have to do the peer evaluation according to the Participation Rubric.(%12)
