Course Objective

Explain what business is and how it is operated within different economic systems including competition factors affecting the production.
To clarify the importance of international business.
To explain the concepts of social responsibility and business ethics
Identify the basic forms of business ownership.
Identify the skills required for management success, outline the functions of management objectives and list the functions of management
To clarify the business functions of production, marketing, organization and finance.

1   Describe and discuss what business is and how it is operated in a diverse global economic environment
2   Distinguish between different types of business ownership
3   Describe and apply management functions, human resources management and basic organizational aspects
4   Identify the basic principles of business functions such as production and operations, marketing and financial management
5   Explain the different characteristics of maritime businesses in the context of global logistics and supply chain
