Course Objective |
Students are supposed to understand Magnetic compass, deviation and variation, Gyro compass, gyro errors and corrections, Mercator projections, Charts, Chart symbols and abbreviations. Chart corrections, Notice to Mariners, Coastal navigation, Fixing methods, Usages of nautical publications, Ship reporting systems, Lights, buoys and other navigation aids, Echo sounder, radar and radar plotting, Electronic navigational aids (Loran-C, Satallite, GPS, Navtex, etc), Shipborne meteorological instruments, Weather systems and depressions, Weather observations reports, General meteorological conditions of ports, Weather reports and forecasting systems, Meaning of meteorological informations at the end of the course. |
