Course Objective

to deal with the historical process of Christianity in Antiquity and Late Antiquity with its theological and historical aspects, to introduce the doctrine of christology, to interpret the rise and disintegration process of the church in the context of its causes and consequences, to understand the relations of Christianity with the Roman administration, its transformation into the state religion and the period of councils

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Mastering the topic of christology as a discipline related to theological discussions about Jesus.
2   Understanding The Christian policies of the Roman administration: Church-state relations in the first three centuries, the church policies of the Roman emperor Constantine (306-337) and subsequent political authority
3   Religious Currents and Sects: To understand the theological acceptance of the religious currents that emerged in Antiquity and Late Antiquity and were interpreted under the umbrella of Christianity and the sects that became permanent with the divisions experienced after them and their adventures in the historical process
4   To learn the integration of Christianity with the Roman administration, to become a state religion and to turn the church into an institution affiliated with the Roman administration
5   To have information about intra-church christological discussions and the disintegration of Christianity

6 Relations of Christianity with the Roman administration
7 The transformation of Christianity into the state religion

9 The period of the Councils-I
10 The period of the Councils-II
11 During the reign of the Roman emperor Constantine (306-337) and after him, the church
12 Integration of Christianity with Roman rule
13 The Christian policies of the Roman administration
14 The theological acceptance of the religious movements interpreted under the umbrella of Christianity and the sects that have become permanent with the subsequent divisions and their adventures in the historical process
