Course Objective

To understand the impact of sufism in the acceptance of Islam by Turks. To learn the sufis and sufi orders that emerged in Khorasan and Transoxania. To comprehend Anatolia's religious and spiritual leaders and their works, views and effects in social life.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will understand the importance and value of sufism in Turkish society.
2   They will learn the firs sufi orders and the founders that emerged and spread among the Turks.
3   They will know the activities and properties of these orders.
4   He has knowledge about the mystical life of Seljuk Period.
5   He will know the effective sufis and their views in Ottoman Period.

4 Sufi orders that are common among the Turks: Hwajagan and Nakhsbandiyya
5 Sufi orders that are common among the Turks: Najm al-Dîn al-Kubra and Kubrawiyya
6 The arrival of sufism in Anatolia, First sufis, Ahis and Babais.
