Course Objective

To introduce the main centers of the Turkish-Islamic art developed in Asia after Islam and Turkish-Islamic artifacts located in these centers.The reflections of art and architecture of Asian Turkish-Islamic states: Karahans, the Ghaznavids and the Great Seljuks on Anatolian Turkish-Islamic building materials and techniques, building types and styles will be evaluated.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Will learn to recognize early Period of Turkish Art and Mythology
2   Understands the Central Asian Turkish Islamic Art.
3   Recognizes the Karahans Period Architecture, decorations and other decorative arts.
4   Explains the factors that have contribution in the formation of art, including in particular religion
5   Considers the implications of Islamic art of Central Asia, on Anatolian Turkish Islamic art
