Course Objective

The aim of the course is to provide students with the ability to understand and analyze the basic concepts used in the economics literature and to use these concepts to follow the current economic problems.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to explain the basic concepts of the economics and the behaviors of economic agents with both micro and macro approaches.
2   To be able to compare different economic systems and economic thoughts.
3   To be able to analyze the mechanisms of charging price comparatively in the different markets.
4   To be able to explain the consumer and producer equilibrium.
5   To be able to determine the importance of money in the economy.
6   To be able to explain the national income and discuss the problems of employment and unemployment
7   To be able to analyze the private (consumption, investment) and public expenditures and savings.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course is designed on a lecture and case/issue discussion basis. The students are expected to continue all sessions and prepare for the discussions by pre-reading the suggested references.
