Course Objective

Aims to teach classical Greeek language.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, student will gain classical Latin language capacity.
2   They will learn Greek alphabet.
3   They will learn ancient Greek grammer.
4   They will also learn Greek epigraphy and numismatics, related to archaeology.

1 Modern languages and ancient language groups.
2 Origins of ancient Greek.
3 Greek alphabet: Majuscules.
4 Greek alphabet: Miniscules.
5 Common Greek words in Turkish and English.
6 Ancient Greek epigraphy 1
7 Ancient Greek epigraphy 2
8 Midterm exam.
9 Field trip: Epigraphic collection of the Archaeological Museum of Izmir.
10 Grammer of ancient Greek 1: Articles and participles.
11 Grammer of ancient Greek 2: Verbs and declanations.
12 Grammer of ancient Greek 3: Accents and other details.
13 Grammer of ancient Greek 4: Simple phrases.
14 Ancient Greek epigraphy 3
15 Ancient Greek epigraphy 4
16 Final exam.
