Course Objective

Within the scope of this course; It aims to enable students to deal with the relationship between biotechnology and economics and the economic analysis of biotechnological applications, economic approaches to waste management; to have knowledge about consumer issues, ethical issues, biosafety, legal rights and patents.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the economic aspects of biotechnological applications.
2   Generating ideas on the basic economic aspects of designing biotechnological processes,
3   Explain various biotechnological applications and the costs of raw material, energy and waste management.
4   Explain consumer issues, ethical issues, biosecurity, legal rights issues and patents.
5   Explain research and development studies and technology transfer processes in biotechnology.

Meaningful learning of the basic concepts given in the presentations, associating the concepts with each other, establishing cause-effect relationships, making comments on questions or problems using their existing knowledge, and evaluating the production of ideas will be carried out with midterm, final exam, active participation in the lesson, and assignments.
