Course Objective

The main objective of this course is to apply the basic processes used in inorganic chemistry laboratory, synthesize and purify the inorganic chemical substances, interpret the experimental results.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Can safely use the chemicals used in the inorganic chemistry laboratory and apply basic procedures, can obtain chlorine gas, can discuss the effect of concentration on equilibrium for inorganic compounds and can determine the empirical formula of hydrated compounds.
2   Can synthesize inorganic salts and compounds which have different structures and write their reactions and properties.
3   Can make chemical calculations related to experiments.
4   Can determine the stoichiometry and symmetry properties of a complex.

Assessment Criteria

The student is evaluated by taking into consideration of quiz which will be applied at the end of the term, average grade of reports prepared after the experiments (homework) and the questions asked in the midterm and final exams.
