Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students with scientific terminology in English chemistry. Within the scope of this course; It is aimed to give basic English terms and basic concepts related to general chemistry and branches of chemistry in English.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, the student will be able to learn technical terms in chemistry,
2   Can understand basic concepts related to chemistry subgroups in English
3   Knows the English term equivalents of the basic tools and equipment used in laboratories.
4   Can comprehend the basic operations applied in laboratories in English.
5   Understands general chemistry presentation in English

Assessment Criteria

The lecturer can make the quiz in the form of question and answer, multiple choice or translation from English to Turkish and/or from Turkish to English. Oral questions may also be asked to the student to understand how well he/she listens during the lesson. During the presentation of the lesson, questions will be asked for the participation of the students in the lesson, and the answers can be given in written/oral form in order to ensure participation in the lesson. The success of the course is determined by the evaluation of midterm, quiz and final exams.

Attendance to at least 70% for the lectures is an essential requirement of this course and is the responsibility of the student. The course is conducted online, it is necessary that attendance to the lecture.
