Course Objective

Gain behaviors to music teacher candidates, to use their own voices healty, correct, beautiful and effective in speech and singing and gain competence in voice training instructor.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learns basic information to use natural and healthy his/her own voice.
2   Learns basic information to human voice system and physiology.
3   Comprehends preliminary studies prepared to controlled singing and learns to controlled use of diaphragm breath.
4   Learns basic elements in correct and aesthetic voice production.
5   Learns different songs from Turkish and world voice literature.
6   Gets the lifelong learning habit.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 General information on voice training, goals of voice training and the importance of voice education in music teacher training.
2 Giving basic information about human voice and respiratory anatomy, voice production and protection of voice health. Sound work and determination of the status of a known volume of the song.
3 Giving information about technical studies in preparation for the course and practising (mental and physical relaxation, posture and exercises for the development of diaphragmatic breathing.)
4 Mental/physical relaxation and breathing exercises. Resonance studies with closed mouse exercise. Vocal exercises with different vocals
5 Mental/physical relaxation exercises, breath exercises, voice exercises and starting to the method of Vaccaj.
6 Studying with piano accompaniment and memorization of examination songs.
7 Study week and course repetition
8 Mid-term exam
9 Technical preparatory exercises. Voice exercises with various intervals within an octave and new songs studies from Vaccaj method.
10 Technical preparatory exercises. Voice exercises with various intervals within an octave and continuation of the new songs studies.
11 Technical preparatory exercises. Voice exercises to legato and staccato techniques and musical studies on the chosen songs.
12 Technical preparatory exercises and the new song studies .
13 Technical preparatory exercises. Identification and detailed study of examination songs.
14 Strengthening studies with piano accompaniment and memorization of examination songs
15 Final Exam
