Course Objective

The aim of this course is to make prospective teachers of Turkish Language and Literature comprehend these periods of New Turkish literature by adding the knowledge of Fecr-i Ati and National literature period to the past literature knowledge of prospective teachers of Turkish Language and Literature; to teach prospective teachers the changes in literature, idea movements, themes, poets and works.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to transfer the literary knowledge of Tanzimat and Servet-i Fünun Literature periods while comprehending the formation and characteristics of Fecr-i Âti period
2   To be able to gain knowledge about the artistic understanding and characteristics of the Fecr-i Ati community
3   To be able to comprehend the intellectual movements of the Second Constitutional Monarchy period and their reflections on literature
4   Establishing links between literature, history, politics and philosophy
5   To be able to comprehend the language understanding of the national literature period through the works of artists
6   To be able to recognize and interpret the changing movements, themes, literary understandings in the literature of this period through works

2 Evaluation of Ahmet Haşim, his Life, Art, position of our the literature.
3 Examination of Ahmet Haşim's poems
4 General characteristics of period of Turkish poetry in the National literature, Mehmet Emin Yurdakul, life, Turkism and poems.
5 Ziya Gökalp, ideas, and traces of his poetry.
6 The location of Yahya Kemal Beyatlı in our poetry, his life and art.
7 Study poems of Yahya Kemal Beyatlı, language, poems, themes, resources.
8 Mid-term exam
9 Mehmet Akif Ersoy, life, ideas, works, and the location
10 Investigations on Mehmet Akif Ersoy's poems
11 Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu and his novels
12 Halide Edip Adıvar and her novels

Participation in class discussions and assignments given in timely delivery of appropriate criteria will be evaluated within the scope of the final exam.

Assessment Criteria

The evaluation of the course will be based on midterm and final exams. Apart from this, there are no special evaluation criteria.

Students should come to class prepared for the related topics specified in the syllabus. Attendance to 70% of the lectures is compulsory.
