Course Objective

Course aims to present, in a comparative way, political, social, intellectual and economic developments in Russian history from the very beginning to the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917; contribute to analytical skills of students and promote learning and questioning instead of memorizing.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to talk about main developments in Russian history
2   To be able to learn about historical periods and events that Russia lived through and to compare these events and experiences with those of the Ottoman Empire and other European powers.
3   To be able to understand those factors that have made Russia both strong and weak.
4   To be able to analyze and explain important events that Russia witnessed in the context of "continuity" and "change."
