Course Objective

To learn interdisciplinary teaching approach and action plan, design, coding and robotics studies, Scientix project, innovation, innovative thinking, entrepreneurship, leadership, personal development and career choice, interdisciplinary learning cycle, career planning, inquiry-based interdisciplinary teaching approach; project based learning; interdisciplinary teaching approach is to develop lesson plan, to prepare activities, scientific attitude, to learn ethics and values.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to learn to prepare interdisciplinary teaching approach and action plan.
2   To be able to perform design, coding and robotics studies in other sciences with biology.
3   To be able to learn innovations, innovative thinking, entrepreneurship, leadership, personal development.
4   To be able to learn project-based learning, lesson plan development, activity preparation, scientific attitude, ethics and values through interdisciplinary teaching approach based on inquiry

2 Basic characteristics of science and scientific knowledge
3 Characteristics of science literate individual
4 The importance of the science of biology and its place among other disciplines
5 Basic concepts, principles, theories and relations between them in biology
6 Scientific practices, scientific process skills
7 The nature and philosophy of biology, the historical development of biology concepts (cell, genetics, classification, systems, evolution etc.) and the methods used by scientists who play a role in this development
8 General Review, Course Evaluation, Midterm Exam
9 Interaction between biology, technology, society, culture and environment
10 Genetic literacy
11 Biological technologies, up-to-date biological applications and their impact on collecting and environment
12 Personal decision making process, bioethics, attitudes and values

Course topics according to learning outcomes will be assessed via midterm, homeworks, and final exams.

Attendence rule is 70% for the lectures and 80% for the laboratory section.
Attemps to cheat may result in disciplinary actions.
The instructor has right to make quizzes. The scores obtained from quizzes may be added to midterm and final grades. Students will be informed at the beginning of the semester.
