Course Objective

The aim of this course is to grasp the principles of treatment, diagnosis and preventive measures in nervous system diseases and mental disorders that emerge in childhood and adolescence.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Perform a complete neurological examination
2   Explain the etiopathogenesis, perform the physical examination, interpret the results of diagnostic tests, discuss differential diagnosis and diagnosis and explain the principles of treatment in stroke.
3   Explain the etiopathogenesis, perform the physical examination, interpret the results of diagnostic tests, discuss differential diagnosis and diagnosis and explain the principles of treatment in peripheral neural disorders
4   Explain the etiopathogenesis, perform the physical examination, interpret the results of diagnostic tests, discuss differential diagnosis and diagnosis and explain the principles of treatment in vertigo
5   Classify epilepsy and epileptic syndromes, explain clinical picture, discuss the drugs used, plan emergency treatment
6   Define principles of psychiatric examination
7   Explain the etiopathogenesis, epidemiology, define clinical characteristics, discuss differential diagnosis, plan pharmacological treatment, define psychotherapy in mood disorders, anxiety disorders and reality distortion disorders
8   Develop an appropriate cooperation with the relatives of a patient with a psychiatric disorder
9   Define principles of psychiatric evaluation of child and adolescents
10   Develop an appropriate communication with the child, adolescent and his/her family
11   Discuss differential diagnosis and diagnosis and explain the principles of treatment of psychiatric diseases frequently encountered in childhood and adolescence.

In the fifthy years the assessments are done at the end of each block and minimum 60 is required to be successful.
DEUMF Rules and Regulations
Article 20
a) To take the OSCE and theoretical exams, task-end progress evaluations should be 60,Mid-Term Achievement Assessment (0%) and above for the 70% of the tasks in the block. The average of the task-end progress evaluations, OSCE and written exam grades should be all 60 and above and block end grade should be minimum 60 in order to be successful from the block.

Assessment Criteria

In the fifthy years, the student success was evaluated on a yearly basis as an annual grade out of 100 points. The passing point of the period is determined as 60 (sixty).

The success evaluation score for 5. class is calculated based on the rates of the exams mentioned below.
