Course Objective

The aim of the course is to give information on basic component of health and first aid in emergency situations.

4   To learn how to carry injured associated with fractures and sprains

1 General first aid information, evaluation of patient and scene of accident, basic life support
2 First aid in bleedings
3 First aid in burn, freeze and heat stroke
4 First aid in fractures, dislocations and sprains, first aid in sensory loss
5 First aid in poisoning and animal bites
6 Rectal, aural, and nasal foreign body
7 First aid in suffocation
8 Midterm Examination
9 Patient / injured transport techniques
10 Definition of health, factors affecting health, health services and utilization opportunities
11 Growth and development
12 Health promotion and protection
13 Mental health
14 Health harmful habits

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course is taught in a lecture, class presentation and discussion format. All class members are expected to attend and both the lecture and take part in the discussion sessions. Besides the taught lecture, group presentations are to be prepared by the groups assigned for that week and presented to open a discussion session.
