Course Objective

The main aim of this course is to raise a general awareness of the basic issues, concepts and theories related to education, profession and ethics in the context of teaching professional ethics; to provide prospective teachers with a perspective that will enable them to develop an ethical stance on the moral dilemmas they may encounter in their future teaching career.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explain the basic concepts and theories of morality and ethics
2   Can associate social, cultural, moral and ethical aspects with the teaching profession
3   Interpret ethical principles in the learning and evaluation process
4   Develop ethical behaviors in relations with educational stakeholders (employers/administrators, colleagues, parents, professional organizations and society)
5   Develop solutions to unethical behaviors, ethical dilemmas and problems in education
