Course Objective

To be able to define interpersonal communication, to comprehend communication models and basic components, to comprehend effective listening and feedback skills, to discuss factors impeding interpersonal communication, to understand the factors facilitating communication, to explain the role of sentiments in communication, to recognize communication conflicts and to discuss solution proposals.

1 Introduction to communication, basic concepts
2 Definition and classification of inter-human relations
3 Theoretical approaches to interpersonal relations (psychoanalytic, attachment, contemporary theories)
4 Theoretical approaches to interpersonal relationships (social, psychological, cognitive theories).
5 Interpersonal relationships as developmental process (infancy and childhood, adolescence and adulthood)
6 Factors that affect people relations
7 Gender, gender roles and interpersonal relationships
8 General Review, Course Evaluation, Midterm Exam
9 Self-adaptation and self-disclosure in interpersonal relationships
10 Communication and communication errors
11 Effective communication skills
12 Empathy in interpersonal communication
13 Interpersonal problems, conflict and conflict resolution approaches
14 Human relations in terms of intercultural differentiation
15 Final exam
