Course Objective

It is aimed to make students understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance and communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
It is aimed to enhance the students speaking skills and most importantly is to improve their critical thinking skills and give the students the confidence to tackle any situation.
It is aimed to improve student s French skills using reading and fluency activities. The overall objective is for students to learn to become lifelong readers of French for pleasure and information.
It is aimed to provide students with focus on particular aspects of paragraph writing, such as topics, style, and development, writing support to help them find, organize, and express their ideas and language support to help them with vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation.

1 Voc. Countries and nationalities, phone numbers, jobs, Gr. Positive and Wh- questions, subject pronouns, le, la,l' article; etre negative, adjectives, possesives
2 Voc: numbers, questions with "est-ce que" and short answers, personal possessions, Gr: Review of the unit. Ls : numbers with aine, sentence stress
3 Voc. adjectives, personal possesions, family, quelle" phrase Gr. "prendre" possessives
4 Voc. time words, combien things in a house, prepositions of place Gr. Review of the unit.
5 Voc. daily routines, free time activities, time phrases Gr. Present simple ( présent de l'indicatif); positive and questions, Present simple, negative and oui/non questions.
6 Voc. months and dates, frequency adverbs Gr. Subject and object pronoun Ls : dates

Assessment Criteria

1. The student will write simple isolated phrases and sentences. Longer texts contain expressions and show coherence problems which make the text very hard or impossible to understand.
2. The student will understand very short, simple texts a single phrase at a time, picking up familiar names, words and basic phrases and rereading as required.
3. The student will produce simple mainly isolated phrases about people and places.
