Course Objective

To teach students phonological, morphological and syntactic systems of the Old Russian language, the relationship of the Old Russian language with the Old Slavic languages and its differences from the modern Russian language.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Learn about phonological system and development patterns of the old Russian language (from Indo-European to proto slavic and from proto-slavic to east slavic).
2   2. Learn basic features of the morphological system of the old Russian language.
3   3. Learn the most striking features of the syntactic system of the old Russian language.
4   4. Learn the basics of comparative and historical method in linguistics.
5   5.Learns to do scientific research and assignments on the history of the Russian language.
