Course Objective

It is to share, monitor and discuss the knowledge and data of graduate students in order to gain the skills that they need to acquire at the graduate level in dentistry.
The aims of this course are; To give information to students about oral microbiology, specifically to explain the microbiology of teeth, gingiva and oral cavity, the diseases they cause and their treatments, and to enable them to be used in practice.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Provides classification and understanding of microorganisms observed in oral biofilm and diseases.
2   Discuss the cases with periodontal diseases, caries and oral diseases caused by biofilm colonization and understand their pathogenesis.
3   Relates the medical information with learned cause related factors and treatment approaches.
4   It takes the necessary measures in terms of the health and protection of the patients, physicians and healthcare professionals working together in the interdisciplinary units.

Assessment Criteria

1. Literature search and data collection abilities will be evaluated.
2. Analytic thinking abilities related to the topics will be evaluated.
3. The student will be evaluated on the ability to collect and analyze data related to the topic.
4. Students' presentations on the literature on dentistry will be evaluated.
5. The students' ability to interpret the subjects with the support of literature will be evaluated with the presentations they prepare.
