Course Objective |
The aim of this course is to enable students to discuss how the media constructs, reproduces and/or reconstructs gender norms and gender ideology through its discourse using relevant theories and methods with a critical approach analyzing gender-related media texts and to have them identify explicit or implicit ideological implications of gender in these texts and thus gain awareness on the media's manipulating effect. |
