Course Objective

To give student ability of reading and playing various music scores.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Student can define the basic concepts that belong to instruments and instrument groups take part in orchestra.
2   Student can read the parts that belong to orchestral scores.
3   Student can play orchestral scores on the piano.
4   Student can make piano reduction from orchestral scores.
5   Student can play the parts that belong to transposed instruments take part in orchestra.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lessons:
During the performance of selected orchestra scores or smilar works on the piano, basic informations about reduction methods are explained with examples by instructor and then students use these tecniques on the piano.

Homeworks:
They consist of written and oral practices related to every subjects applied in the class that the student must prepare for the next class.

Students should come to the lesson ready to play the works determined on the piano. There is a 70% attendance requirement for the course.
