Course Objective

It is aimed to inform the students about tunneling which is an alternative employment area to mining.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Knows to define the role of mining technician on tunneling.
2   2. Knows tunneling methods.
3   3. Knows machinery equipments used in tunneling.
4   4. Knows to apply drilling and blasting design in tunneling .
5   5. Knows to use RMR and Q systems.
6   6. May determine the rock behavior while making underground opening works and saving these openings and to take precautions about this topic.
7   7. May make necessary works about opening in the rock foundation for structures and saving these structures.
8   8. May determine the underground openings effecting on the surface and their boundaries.

This lecture is going to make with theoretical courses in class, laboratory works and field trips. Instructor is going to teach the lessons with slide shows, create a discussion area with question and answer method with students and make laboratory works
on specific subjects.
