Course Objective

Film analysis is a process of autopsy. While, in Medical education, autopsy concerns with the human organs and their processes and interconnections , film analysis (in film education) takes films as structures and studies their functions, their interconnections and the meanings which are embedded in them. Via Film Analysis Course, students may be able to see the elements that form the film (as a structure) and the accurate/inaccurate relations between these elements, and will have the skill and the ability of using these elements appropriately, deliberately and accurately.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. To gain the skill for determine the socio-cultural, politic and ideological relations with the era which is the film produced

The definition of film analysis, the way it works, its difficulties and necessities and its benefits. Discussion of how to analyze film on historical, sociocultural, political and ideological basis.
