Course Objective

Transmedia is a rather recently popularized practice based on storytelling at different media platforms simultaneously. For instance, parts of a film or television series story is delivered also through some other media such as graphic novel, animation, videogame, Web or mobile apps, toys and other merchandise. Furthermore, the audiences may also produce further content through Wikia sites, costumed games or videos. In this course, we will focus on different transmedia examples which create a synergy by utilizing different media to create a total creative experience and then produce transmedia projects.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   At the end of this course, student will be expected to have a knowledge of the following: 1. What transmedia practice is, 2. What the basics of transmedia storytelling are, 3. The well-known and contemporary transmedia practice examples, 4. The ways of experiencing the production of transmedia content production, and 5. The modes of production and reception of such practices.
