Course Objective

The student taking this course; It aims to teach the genres that have been separated since the birth of cinema, witnessing the emergence of new genres among documentary and fictional films, together with social and cultural factors, and which have an important place in world cinema. In the course to be given in this direction, the historical and cultural developments of important genres of cinema will be examined, the formal and content features of the genres will be taught, and scenario writing experiments will be made.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1 To be able to recognize genres, to explain the formation of genres, to know the characteristics of genres, to give examples,
2   2 To be able to explain the historical and cultural development of genres, to explain in connection with the art of cinema,
3   3. Recognizing and distinguishing the cinematic aesthetics of genres, explaining on sample films,
4   4. To be able to relate, compare and interpret between species,
5   5. It is expected that they will be able to comprehend the place and importance of genres in the history of cinema and to distinguish and comprehend genres according to their emergence periods.
6   It is expected that they will acquire the skills of writing screenplays according to genres.

Lectures will be held as seminars with active participation, and will be explained through sample films from the most important genres of world cinema.
