Course Objective

The student taking this course;
Eurimages, in order to be able to comment on the New in New Türkiye cinema on what the Ministry of Culture supports, the gains of the changing production supports for our cinema and the concept of independent filmmaker,
1. Discussing the impact of the changing production conditions of Turkish cinema, especially in the post-1990 period, on our cinema, getting to know the prominent cinema approaches and directors and analyzing them through important events and directors of our cinema,
2. To be able to analyze the films and cinema languages of the directors, to know and recognize the innovations that the emerging cinematic understandings have added to our cinema, and to strengthen their ability to comment on these innovations,
3. One of the auteur directors of Turkish cinema; To explain the cinematic approaches of Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Zeki Demirkubuz, Ümit Ünal, Yeşim Ustaoğlu,
4. The aim of this course is to know and recognize the innovations these directors brought to our cinema.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1 Getting to know the important historical processes of Turkish cinema and the prominent cinema concepts and directors in this period, and to be able to analyze the important events and directors of our cinema, to outline and criticize the cinematic approaches,
2   2 To be able to handle, recognize and classify Turkish cinema in its social and cultural contexts,
3   3 To be able to observe the change and transformation of the production relations of Yeşilçam cinema and its reflections on our cinema, to criticize, discuss and comment on social conditions and events through the films of our important filmmakers,
4   5 To be able to understand and interpret the reflections of the historical and social transformations in the 1990s on our cinema.
5   4 To understand the films and cinematic approaches of the directors, to know and recognize the innovations that the resulting cinematic understandings have added to our cinema, and to strengthen their ability to comment on these innovations,
6   6 In general terms, it is expected to be able to show the changes that Turkish cinema has undergone through subjects and themes, and to be able to compare, classify, interpret and synthesize changes through sample films.

Assessment Criteria

We want to enable students to recognize the important periods of Turkish cinema, to distinguish their features, to compare and comment on films and to analyze the stages of change in Turkish cinema correctly.
It is expected that the student will be able to participate in the course, analyze the film, discuss it in a scientific framework, present seminars by choosing the topic of his choice from the topics in the course content, and be successful in the exams to be held.
