Course Objective

To teach the basic features and usage of the camera. To teach the properties of the lenses. To teach the light sources and their properties. To teach the light and the camera in the set design.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To teach him/her to use the camera.
2   To equip information about emotion, meaning and expression created with lenses.
3   To teach the axis line and use of the camera.
4   Comprehending the light sources and the heat, color and use of light in expression
5   To teach the use of camera and light in set design.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 The scope of the course, applications and the scope of the project. Features of the camera. Camera applications (Shooting scales and camera movements.
2 Camera object relation. Axis line applications. Arrangement of the frame.
3 Creation of shooting scenario. Beat sheet preparation
4 Examples of composition and light design. Cinematic use of pictorial light. Influences from painters such as Remberant, Caravaggio, Renoir, etc.
5 Use of Light and meaning. Contribution of camera to meaning and expression.
6 Scenes and discussion
7 MIDTERM EXAM + FILE DELIVERY
8 Light equipment and filters
9 Camera Filters
10 Dramatic Lighting and set design
11 Analysis through sample movies
12 Test Shots Analysis and discussions
