Course Objective

In this course, students make research and do extensive reading to select their topic and then design their projects. In that, they learn to start, plan and develop a translation based project. Throughout the course students will work independently, yet under the supervision of their instructors. Thus, students lay the groundwork for Translation Project course in the 8th semester.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Employ written and online sources in conducting research within the process of project design.
2   Identify the stages of project planning.
3   Develop project plan in regards to paralel reading practices.
4   Analyze the linguistic, lexical and semantic characteristics of the source texts.
5   Examine and asses the author s style both in the selected texts and her/his other texts.

Assessment Criteria

Since this aim is to make preliminary preparation for the Translation Projects (which will be conducted in the 8th semester), students in this course will submit draft proposals for their projects as a midterm and submit at least one homework/ presentation. Additionally, they submit a project report as a final exam. Students will meet their instructors during the semester for feedback.
