Course Objective

The aim of the course is to enable the students of the department to recognize the script, which is the basic element of the film, to learn and comprehend the writing techniques.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The department students should have a general knowledge of the structure of the scenario,
2   Knowing and applying the processes of the scenario such as the idea of the movie, the theme, the story, the synopsis, the treatment,
3   Having theoretical knowledge of classical narrative functioning such as event, plot, character, conflict, dialogue, dramatic structure, and being able to apply this knowledge,
4   It is aimed to have a command of the script language to the extent that they will write the scripts of the films they will shoot and realize the mistakes, deficiencies or positive aspects of a written script.

Course Contents

1 Week 1 1- Introductory lesson. Giving information about the general operation of the course. Make reference book suggestions.
2 Week 2 2-Even if it is very short, to provide an understanding of the process by showing examples of the effort and process spent before the production of a film.
3 Week 3 3- How does the idea for the movie come about What is the theme Is it necessary What is the movie story and features What is logline
4 Week 4 4- What is synopsis How to write Is it necessary
5 Week 5 5- Explanation of the treatment and discussion of examples.
6 Week 6 6- Discussing the opinions of professionals of the profession and their thoughts on scenario production stages with tools such as documentaries, interviews.
7 Week 7 7- What is character What does it mean for the script
8 Week 8 8- Students' spelling practice.
9 Week 9 9- Reading, discussing and evaluating the writings.
10 Week 10 10- What is a scene, sequence, curtain What does it do
11 Week 11 11- Explaining the dialogue writing techniques.
12 Week 12 12- Discussion of how installations are done by watching the sample movie or parts from the movies, dialogue, character, etc..
13 Week 13 13- Explaining the codes and operation of the building with three curtains.
14 Week 14 14- Evaluation of the projects and assignments submitted by the students. General evaluation of the period.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1- Theoretical information about the scenario and writing stages is explained.
2- Sample materials (such as script, film, documentary, interview, etc.) and analysis of the movie scenario and discussions are made on the examples.
3- It is tried to improve the writing ability of the student with spelling exercises.

The suitability of the studies to the narrative specified within the scope of the assignment/project, their originality and mastery in practice constitute the success criteria.
