Course Objective

Learning the material selection and processing for the design of the necessary spaces for the production of Stop-motion Animation. It aims to gain the ability to apply designs to a three-dimensional real environment.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Teaching the basic techniques required for stop motion production.
2   Creating the infrastructure for figure making for Stop Motion animation.
3   Combining designs for stop motion film with the application.
4   To comprehend how the material will be used in figure applications, to learn how to use different materials according to the possibilities of figure types.
5   Investigation of innovative materials and techniques for figures used in stop motion animation.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. Lessons
The lecturer teaches the students the basic techniques and forms of figure and puppet making and makes them practice. Listens to the student's plans on how to use the applications. Leads to produce solutions for possible technical problems
2. Review Sessions and Class Discussions
From the design to the implementation phase, review sessions will be held in the first hour of the class each week. In-class studies and extracurricular practices will form the basis of the problems to be solved in this process. Students will be encouraged to participate in class discussions and will be asked to present their views on their designs.
3. Applications
During the transition from design to production, students; According to the figure technique to be applied, experiments will be made on the selection and use of materials. By developing their skills, they will be able to comprehend the parallelism between design and implementation, and they will be informed about the solution of possible problems that may arise in this process.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

In the course evaluation phase, it will be checked whether the student attends the course in theoretical courses and whether the student comes to the course by making preliminary preparations. For the courses in which application projects are made; Scoring will be made on preliminary research, creativity in designs, whether the material is well processed and technical inventions.


The score to be obtained from student participation will depend on (1) the participation in the classes, (2) the quality of the answers given by the student to the questions asked by the lecturer during the lesson, and the in-class project work and (3) the contribution of the student to create a positive learning environment.

Assessment Criteria

The suitability of the studies to the narrative specified within the scope of the assignment/project, their originality and mastery in practice constitute the success criteria.

Course Policies and Rules

1. It is compulsory to attend 70% of the course.
2. Any attempt to plagiarize and result in actual disciplinary action.
3. Not attending the course will not be considered as a valid excuse for late submission of homework and projects.
4. In delayed project submissions, there will be a score reduction equivalent to one letter grade for each delayed day.
