Course Objective

Practical application of basic tools and materials can be used in making of decor and accessories for stage purposes.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Develop the ability to realize the stage decor and be able to present it to audience
2   Able to collect and use scientific data during design process beside being capable of presenting it as a concluded application
3   Be able to internalize modern technological developments while researching for materials and adapt to design process
4   Be able to analyze realize design methods and materials beforehand that can be used in the process of creating the design.
5   Gain the ability to use accurate data and technical equipment consciously in his/her designs in the field of stage and performing arts.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1.Courses
The instructor present the materials and utensils that students may use in the field of stage design, direct the students to follow recent developments in the fields of application for creation of a decor and stage props as well as to solve problems that may arise and present their views on these subjects by preparing a written/visual report or via midterm and final exams.


2.Reviewing Sessions and Discussions
The assignments will be given to each student upon basic materials and it is expected from them to present these research projects in the class on a certain date that instructor have decided. Within the framework of the project for each material that will be produced by the student and within the time given for the selection of the main designs, the reviewing sessions about assignments-according to their presentation deadline-will be held each week in the first half-hour period of the course by the instructor. It will be encouraged that the students submit their views on designs and to participate in class discussions.

3.Tutorials
The transition from design to production, students will work on the material and during practice the students will be informed about the probable solution of the problems may arise.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Course evaluation contains, first preliminary research, creativity in designs, effective usage of material and technical inventions during the projects relate with a specific material.
Besides students participation and carrying out the projects, midterm and final exams will evaluate practice as well as the theory of practice.

Assessment Criteria

The student will prepare a report that contains written and visual content about one of the materials mentioned during course also will present it in class.
Student participation points to be obtained, (1) the state of attendance, (2) the student's answers to the questions asked by the instructor during the class and quality of project during class (3) and on the student's contribution for the creation of a positive learning environment.

Course Policies and Rules

1.It is obligatory to participate 80% of the classes in one term.
2.Any kind of plagiarism and attempts will result in disciplinary action.
3.Being absent in the class won t be regarded as a valid excuse for the late delivery of homework/assignments or projects.
4.Late project for each day of delay deliveries will drop points equivalent to a letter grade.
