Course Objective

Introduction to the basic tools and materials used in scenographic applications and implementation through practical experience.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Develop his/her creative skills while designing for stage.
2   Be able to prevent and solve possible problems that the student may face during design and pruduction process.
3   Dominating the variety of materials used to designing for stage and be aware of new technological developments
4   To transform different methods and materials in the process of design execution.
5   Have enough knowledge and experience about scenography and its interactions with other disciplines.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1.Courses
The instructor present the basic materials and utensils that students may use in the field of stage design, runs class activities to develop ability of using materials, redirect the students to solve issues that may arise.

2.Reviewing Sessions and Discussions
The projects that may realize with the materials will be given for each student in the class. Within the framework of the project for each material that produced by the students and within the time given for the selection of the main designs, the reviewing sessions about assignments-according to their presentation deadline-will be held each week in the first half-hour period of the course by the instructor.
It will be encouraged that the students submit their views on designs and to participate in class discussions.

3.Tutorials
The transition from design to production, students will work on the material and at this stage to develop the basic skills of the user, during practice the students will be informed about the probable solution of the problems may arise.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Course evaluation contains, first preliminary research, creativity in designs, effective usage of material and technical inventions during the projects relate with a specific material.
Besides students participation and carrying out the projects, midterm and final exams will evaluate practice as well as the theory of practice.

Assessment Criteria

Students will prepare basic design projects in the area of Stage Design using different materials that are described during course.

The student will gather visual material while preparing for these projects and present them in the form of a brief written report including the starting point of the design and the challenges may face in use of materials.

Student participation points to be obtained, (1) the state of attendance, (2) the student's answers to the questions asked by the instructor during the class and quality of project during class (3) and on the student's contribution for the creation of a positive learning environment.

Course Policies and Rules

1.It is obligatory to participate 80% of the classes in one term.
2.Any kind of plagiarism and attempts will result in disciplinary action.
3.Being absent in the class won t be regarded as a valid excuse for the late delivery of homework/assignments or projects.
4.Late project for each day of delay deliveries will drop points equivalent to a letter grade.
