Course Objective

to improve students' piano techniques and provide perception of musical elements by playing more complex pieces from different ages of Western Art Music (Baroque, Classic , Romantic and 2O.Century, Contemporary Turkish Music and genres including jazz, Blues and Pop Music and also it is aimed to gain creativity and distinctiveness of piano playing

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Play scales in different tones
2   Play arpeggios in different tones
3   Know the locations and functions of pedals
4   Interpret pieces with correct technique and musical expressions
5   Interpret more complex terms for dynamics, tempo and expressions on the piano
6   Play pieces from different music genres involving different piano pieces

Course Contents

1 Deciding piano piece for suitible level
2 Practicing the pieces. Scales an arpeggios
3 Practicing etudes and octave scales toward piano pieces
4 Piano pedals, age and sylistic features of piano pieces
5 Tempos and dynamics of pieces
6 Practicing the pieces and etudes.
7 Desiding new pieces and sight reading.
8 Practicing accurate tempos and dynamics of new pieces.
9 Mid-term exam
10 Technique and musical expressions studies toward ages and genres of pieces
11 Desiding new pieces,practicing scales and arpeggios and sight reading.
12 Practicing accurate tempos and dynamics of pieces.
13 Technique and musical expressions studies.
14 Jury evaluation

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lectures will be held individual to student based on practice (including instrument performing) and by teaching theoretical information that will support the practice.
