Course Objective

To teach basic first aid and emergency treatment information and practices that dentists may need during patient care or in their daily lives.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows and comprehends the basic concepts and principles of first aid.
2   Knows the general principles of evaluation of the casualty in first aid.
3   Knows vital signs and basic life support practices necessary to maintain life.
4   Knows the applications to be made at the place and time of the incidents, first aid and emergency care regarding the precautions to be taken, as well as some practical applications.
5   Knows emergency situations and first aid practices that may occur during dentistry practices.

Assessment Criteria

1. The student should be able to define the basic concepts and principles of first aid.
2. The student should be able to describe the general principles of casualty assessment in first aid.
3. The student should be able to describe vital signs and basic life support practices necessary to sustain life.
4. The student should be able to define the applications to be made at the place and time of the incidents, the first aid and emergency care regarding the precautions to be taken, as well as some practical applications.
5. The student should be able to describe emergencies and first aid practices that may occur during dental practice.
