Course Objective

The aim of the course is to teach students the basic principles of pharmacology, the effects of drugs used in systemic diseases, adverse effects of drugs and drug-drug interactions, to provide information about rational drug use and to gain the ability to write prescriptions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Knows pharmacological concepts.
2   2. Knows and interprets the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of drugs.
3   3. Knows the physiology of the autonomic nervous system, the groups of drugs used in the clinic regarding this system, their mechanisms of action, side effects, indications and drug interactions.
4   4. Knows the central nervous system neutrophils, the groups of drugs used in the clinic related to this system and their mechanisms of action, side effects, indications and drug interactions.
5   5. Knows the mechanisms of action of antibiotics, antiseptics and disinfectants, their use, side effects and drug and/or food interactions.
6   6. Knows the groups of drugs used in the clinic regarding the cardiovascular system, their mechanisms of action, side effects, indications and drug interactions.
7   7. Knows the groups of drugs used in the clinic regarding the gastrointestinale system, their mechanisms of action, side effects, indications and drug interactions.
8   8. Have ability to choose and prescribe medications appropriate to their clinical needs, in doses that meet their own individual requirements, for an adequate period of time, and at the lowest cost to them and their community.
9   9. Knows where and how to report serious adverse effects that occur due to drug use in the patient.
