Course Objective

Students learn anatomy for the Temperomandibular joint, muscles, lower jaw movements, diagnosis and treatments for occlusion and Temperomandibular joint disorders.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. The student should know the terminology for the temporomandibular joint.
2   2. The student should know the anatomy of the temporomandibular joint.
3   3. The student should know the muscles and ligaments affecting the temperomandibular joint.
4   4. Mandibular movements, lower jaw movements in sagittal plane, lower jaw movements in horizontal plane, lower jaw movements in forehead plane
5   5. Occlusion concepts, fully balanced occlusion (balanced occlusion), unilateral balanced occlusion (group function), canine-sparing occlusion
6   6. Classification of the occlusal relationship pattern of functional tubercles in the case of centric relationship
7   7. Classification of Temporomandibular Joint Disorders
8   8. Diagnosis and Treatment of Temporomandibular Joint Disorders
