Course Objective

The aim of this course is to teach undergraduate students the clinical observation, interventional and non-invasive practices of eight different Departments of the Faculty of Dentistry.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows and applies clinical infection, sterilization and cleaning completely.
2   Knows how to communicate verbally and in writing with the patient at a cognitive and cultural level.
3   Knows how to make a detailed presentation about the patient by taking anamnesis and written and verbal consent regarding the patient's general health and dental problems.
4   Learns and practices detailed intra-oral and extra-oral examination of the patient.
5   Learns and knows how to basicly examine the patient.
6   Knows and applies Preventive Dentistry practices.

Assessment Criteria

1. Attending the clinics before each lesson with the necessary educational materials for that lesson (10 points)
2. Appearing in the clinic with appropriate clothing for infection control (10 points)
3. Compliance with sterilization/disinfection, cross-infection rules and regular and complete use of materials within the clinical order (10 points)
4. Ability to communicate appropriately with the patient, verbally and in writing, cognitively and culturally (10 Points)
5. Ability to obtain written and verbal consent from patients (5 points)
6. Ability to take complete verbal and written history from patients regarding general and dental health problems (5 Points)
7. Ability to perform general intra-oral and extra-oral examination of patients regarding their dental complaints (10 Points)
8. Ability to clinically examine patients at the initial level (10 points)
9. Ability to diagnose patients based on clinical and radiographic examination (10 Points)
10. Ability to observe, assist and apply invasive and/or non-invasive clinical practices to patients (10 points)
11. Ability to apply Preventive Dentistry and Community Oral and Dental Health Practices to the patient in the clinic and explain them adequately (10 Points)


*** The Make-Up Criteria are not taken into account in the units without a make-up exam.
