Course Objective

To teach preclinical ergomic work at the bedside, to explain and show patients about tooth brushing, flossing, and interface cleaning, to teach and practice the use of periodontal hand tools on phantom models, to show indexing in periodontal tissues and have them applied practically, to teach sharpening of periodontal tools, To teach polishing on teeth to remove surface discoloration.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Patient physician learns ergonomic working principles.
2   2. Demonstrates the use of oral hygiene motivation tools to the patient.
3   3. Learns to take indices for the diagnosis of periodontal disease.
4   4. Learns the use of supra and subgingival hand tools.
5   5. Learns the sharpening of periodontal curettes.

14 14-Instrument sharpening
