Course Objective

The aim is to use the motifs and compositions seen in Traditional Turkish decoration arts and used in Baroque, Rococa and Ampir Periods; and, use these motifs on materials such as wood, chinaware, stone (gravestone), plasterwork and metal; also, make their coloured original designs on different materials ( wood, plasterwork, paper etc.)

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   learn drawing techniques of the motifs used in different periods of Turkish Arts ( Baroque, Rococa, Ampir ),
2   use the motifs, used in Traditional Turkish Arts, in a composition,
3   correlate Traditional Turkish motifs with different disciplines,
4   use Traditional Turkish motifs in their own designs,
5   have the efficacy to represent the knowledge they have gained related to their specialty field.

6 The drawing techniques of the motifs such as curtains, bow ties, ropes, weapons
7 The drawing techniques of the motifs belonging to Baroque and Rococa periods and using them in a composition

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Each student will analyze Turkish motifs and then choose a motif and a composition for the material they are going to study on, such as wood, stone, chinaware, metal and plasterwork.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

This course involves 2 theoretical course credits; and 2 practical course credits. In the educational period, the students will comprehend the motif knowledge, and analyze the motifs in question. The presentation of these analysis will be in the form of an assignment. An original design will be made with these motifs. So, the practices related to the design can be evaluated at what degree they have been turned into a skill.

Assessment Criteria

Exams will be evaluated out of 100. This grade will be determined according to the number of the questions to be asked in the exams. And also, the project, the assignment presentation and the attendance will be evaluated out of 100.

Course Policies and Rules

The students coming to class late will be accepted into the class but are considered to attend half class period. All attendance will be scored as mentioned above. At the end of each course, the next lesson s subject is given to the students as study and research subject. Each lesson starts after discussing the study and research subject before teaching it.
