Course Objective

To emphasize the necessity of necropsy and its importance in the definitive diagnosis of diseases, application of necropsy methods according to animal species, macroscopic diagnostic methods and teaching methods to take the marginal material and send to the laboratory. Thus, each student will be able to demonstrate the cause of death and necropsy to gain skills in the field.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Take the necessary precautions before, during and after the necropsy of dead animals.
2   Determines and apply appropriate necropsy techniques according to animal species.
3   Gains the ability to recognize and interpret macroscopic findings observed in organs during necropsy.
4   He / she will be able to take the material properly from the lesion organs and send it to the laboratory.
5   Gets the ability to determine the cause of death, to recognize the disease and to prepare a necropsy report by evaluating all data as a result of necropsy.
6   By making a definitive diagnosis of the disease with necropsy in cases where clinical diagnosis cannot be made, it contributes to fight with animal diseases and to the country's economy

2 General knowledge of necropsy euthanasia, external view of cadaver
3 General necropsy information-autolysis
4 Methods of necropsy - Methods of depositing and skin resurfacing
5 Necropsy technique - opening of abdominal cavity and removal of organs
6 Necropsy technique - opening of the chest cavity and removal of organs
7 Necropsy technique- brain extraction and examination
8 Necropsy technique- M. Removal of spinalis, opening of the mouth and nasal cavity and examination
9 Macroscopic veterinary pathology-Distribution and color of lesions
10 Macroscopic veterinary pathology - consistency and shape of lesions
11 Taking samples from diseased tissues
12 Processing of tissues in laboratory
13 Necropsy technique- opening and examination of the heart
