Course Objective

A general introduction to central issues for cancer screening and cancer prevention. At the end of this course, students will be able to critically analyse the evidence, design strategies and approaches to the performance of screening tests and the implementation of cancer screening programs, to design strategies and approaches to convert epidemiological evidence into cancer prevention interventions. Analyse risk prediction models of cancer survivors in terms of secondary prevention interventions and performances and clinical applications.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knows the concept of cancer prevention.
2   Describe the mechanisms and risk factors of carcinogenesis.
3   Understand the methods of cancer screening by reading the literature.
4   Recognize cancer screening programs in Türkiye, use, analyse their performance design strategies and approaches.
5   Analyse cancer risk estimation models.
