General Description

History

Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy Department was approved on 11th of September, 2011 by The Council of Higher Education (39556) under the framework of Heath Sciences Institute of our university and Cardiopulmonary Master of Science Program was open in to education on 2012- 2013 education year. The duration of the program is 2 semester lesson and 2 semestre thesis, totally 4 semestre. Programs education language is Turkish.

Specific Admission Requirements

First Cycle Degree in the same or in related disciplines, Transcript, Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first cycle cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. The exceptions to the requirements of ALES and Foreign Language Proficiency scores is announced by the Graduate School. However, ALES requirement is waived for the admissions to the second cycle graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test as well as for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS), and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS) credits. İn total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.

Profile of the Programme

Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy Master Program has started to education on 2012 -2013 education year. The aim of this study is to improve the students theoratical knowledge and practical application qualifications in the are of cardiopulmonary physiotherapy, to follow the scientific developments, to discuss, to prepare scientific research, carrying out the scientific research and improving the ability of presentation. Program has 5 compulsory lessons in autumn semestre and 5 compulsory lessons in spring semestre additionally 15 selective lessons related to the different areas of cardiopulmonary physiotherapy. Besides the student have the preference choosing the lessons from the other deparments.

Key Learning Outcomes

1	Have the efficient level of knowledge regarding basic sciences (anatomy, cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology, pathology, exercise physiology), clinical sciences (respiratory diseases, cardiovasculary diseases, systemic and metabolic diseases, cancer, concerning all ge of groups , pediatric development and physiology of aging) in the field of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation
2	Interpret the data obtained from clinical applications, comperehensive assessment, observation(follow up), program planning and application in the field of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation
3	Have the ability of comperehension about the different oriented approches such as healthy adults, athletes, geriatric individuals in the physiotherapy special field of interest.
4	Know the new concepts related to assessment and treatment methods in the field of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.
5	Follow the new published studies from the literature and can evaluate and examine these studies in the field of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.
6	Acts (behave) properly in relation to medical ethics and expected to have knowledge about the studies on humans and/or animals.
7	Have the abiliity to examine the necessity of ethical committee report and materials and methods before starting the research from the point of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.
8	Have the ability to research and present the research in the field of Cardipulmonary Rehabilitaion.
9	Adopt the evidence-based applications and have the ability to efficient clinical decision making.
10	Adapt the knowledge and ability that gained from Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation and solve problem.
11	Perform team work.
12	Know Professional attitude, legal subjects, legislation and bylaws, documentation and cost analysis.
13	Execute safe, reliable and admissible applications (work)deal with from critical point of view and assess.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

According to related academic members choice 1 intermadiate exam, 1 final exam and/or homework in semestre or evaluated by the success on the projects. It is requreid that having 75 point from 100 point for being successful.
