: Law of Economics Non-Thesis (Evening)

General Description

History

Masters Degree Program in Economic Law (non-thesis) is founded within the scope of department of public law. According to the article 20 of D.E.U Regulations of Postgraduate Education the object of Graduates Program with thesis is gaining deep knowledge on vocational issues and practicing of existing knowledge. In this direction, the object of program is providing specialization of students who are graduated from law faculty.
This program is intended for lawyers who have internalized the principles of the universal law and have competency of legal legislation and the fundamental legal concepts and rules. Through a competency based education process, the national and international developments are analyzed legally and the ability of solving and identifying of legal disputes and conflicts is improved. The ability of legal reasoning is deepened by comparative and critical thinking ability.

Specific Admission Requirements

First Cycle Degree in the same or in related disciplines, Transcript, Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first cycle cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. The exceptions to the requirements of ALES and Foreign Language Proficiency scores is announced by the Graduate School. However, ALES requirement is waived for the admissions to the second cycle graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test as well as for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

1,5 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 90 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

This program is intended for lawyers who have internalized the universal principles of law and have competency of legal legislation and the fundamental legal concepts and rules. 1   By deepening and advancing the knowledge of Economics Law and doing scientific research, he/she can access, interpret and put into effect the information.
2   By using the data in the field of Economics Law, he/she can advance her/his information by scientific methods and use this information with social and ethical responsibility.
3   Analyzing and solving the problems referring Economics Law and evaluating these conclusions.
4   Conveying and sharing her/his studies and the recent developments in field of Economics Law with the people who are/aren t interested in these subjects by written and visual ways systematically.
5   Improving new approaches to the complicated problems of Economics Law and creating solutions by taking a responsibility.
6   Advancing a strategy, policy and exercising plans about Family law and evaluating all of these conclusions in a light of quality process.
7   Having a competency of using at least one foreign language with oral/written forms.
8   Having the ability of using the information and communication technologies at a required level.
9   Having a competency of using the information and the ability of problem solving for interdisciplinary studies.
10   Identifying the fundamental principles of private and public law.
11   Having a competency of using academic terminology of Economics Law.
12   Having scientific studies in the field of Economics Law that are appropriate with legal methodology.
13   Having information about national and international legal and administrative legislation of different disciplines of Law and Economics Law.
14   Having the basic knowledge of economics, management and finance for interpreting the problems of Economics Law better.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Evaluation and assessment methods for each course is defined in the the Course Description Form which is prepared by related faculty member / s and included in the information package. Exams and course success notes is subject to the relevant articles of the DEU Regulation on Graduate Education.

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Non-Thesis Program is comprised of courses (at least 85 ECTS), Term Project (5 ECTS), in total 90 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/S/TP grades.
