General Description

History

Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Graduate Degree Programme has been approved by YÖK (Higher Education Council) in September 29, 2010 and has been giving education as a programme of Dokuz Eylül University under Health Sciences Department since 2010-2011 academic year. Length of the programme is 4 semesters, 2 of them consisting of lectures and 2 of them thesis. Language of the programme is Turkish.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS), and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS) credits. İn total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.

Profile of the Programme

Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Graduate Degree has started graduate education in 2010. The purpose of this programme is students to gain understanding about theoratical information and clinical applications in orthopaedic physiotherapy area, improve their presentation skills, be able to follow scientific progresses in their area, and having the knowledge and ability to do research in their area. The programme includes 3 compulsory courses in fall semester, 4 compulsory courses in spring semester and elective courses from different areas of othopaedic physiotherapy. Students can choose courses in other ADs as well.

1   Able to define the basic principles of functional anatomy
2   Able to define normal kinesiological and biomechanical properties and patomechanics
3   Able to define and apply general physiotherapy assesment techniques to plan the treatment programme in locomotor system diseases
4   Able to analyse and interpret physiotherapy assesment results in locomotor system diseases
5   Able to plan and perform the treatment programme specific to pathology
6   Able to plan and make a research in this category by using theoretical and practical principles of orthopedic physiotherapy
7   Able to use medical information technologies and make effective presentation
8   Able to express and apply a universal code of ethics
9   Able to follow the national and universal literature
10   Able to perform teamwork

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Evaluation of the students are performed based on their success on 1 midterm, 1 final exam, assignments and projects for the courses. Students need to get a score of at least 75 in order to succeed from a course.
