Key Learning Outcomes

1   Transfer the knowledge acquired in mathematics, statistics, geoinformatics, and ICT to solve any spatial problem using appropriate GIS tools.
2   Analyze GIS data by spatial and non-spatial techniques.
3   Identify data needs of different disciplines for GIS-based problem solutions, obtain these data and prepare them for further processing.
4   Use software for solving GIS problems, define its solution strategy, use software to which (s)he is not familiar by understanding its working principles.
5   Scan information resources in her/his mother tongue and English for the realization of a GIS Project, select key information and apply this to the project.
6   Design a GIS application Project and contribute to its implementation.
7   Act as a member of the team in cases where a GIS problem is solved within a team, take individual responsibility, contribute to the team and lead it when necessary.
8   Develop quality culture using national and international quality standards related to GIS.
9   Inform in written and oral form at all levels on any topic related to GIS, prepare an evidence based report which manifests the problem at hand, suggests a method to its solution, and discusses the method.
10   Design a development project aiming to solve social problems.
11   Act within scientific and ethical principles at planning, data acquisition, information extraction, solution suggestion and publishing stages of GIS problem solving.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduates of the Program have employment opportunities in relevant units of municipalities, public authorities, and private sector in accordance with their knowledge and skills. Municipalities, Land Registry and Cadastre, General Directorate of Highways, General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works, General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration, Presidency of Disaster and Emergency Management and their regional offices are the examples of the organizations where our graduates undertake responsibilities.

Access to Further Studies

May apply to third cycle programmes.

Course Structure Diagram with Credits
